Application of pipeline filter in liquid pump

Many industrial enterprises use gear pump to transport liquid, and install valves before and after the pump to control the flow of the pump. The disadvantage of this method is that the impurities such as iron filings and silt mixed in the liquid are easily sucked into the pump together with the liquid, and the gears in the pump are often stuck, resulting in tooth or gear damage, and unsafe accidents such as shaft coupling damage or motor burning out, resulting in parking and economic losses to the enterprise.

In each production period of methanol workshop, there will be 1-2 accidents caused by screws entering into the pump. After consulting some materials, a kind of pipeline filter is designed by ourselves, which can solve this problem well.

Structure and working process of pipeline filter

The structure of the pipeline filter is shown in Figure 1. Its working process is: when the starting pump liquid is sucked into the filter, impurities such as iron filings in the liquid are deposited at the bottom of the screen due to the resistance of the filter screen and its own gravity, and the liquid can smoothly pass through the screen and enter the pump.

The handhole can be opened at intervals to take out the filter screen and clean up the impurities on the screen. At the same time, the other prepared screen can be put into the filter to continue to work. So as to ensure the normal operation of the pump.

Problems in design

In the design, it is necessary to consider not to increase the pipe resistance too much and not to form eddy current in the filtration. Therefore, the shell of the filter must be consistent with the outer diameter of the transmission pipeline, and the larger filtration capacity must be ensured.

Therefore, the area of the screen should not be less than 2 times of the cross-sectional area of the pipe, and the installation of the screen must have a certain inclination according to the size of the pipeline.

Because eddy current is easy to form at the handhole, the handle should be made into a cylinder, and an arc block should be welded at the bottom of the cylinder, and its size and shape should be consistent with the pipe diameter. In order to make it easy to take out the screen, the hand hole flange adopts quick opening.

The device has the advantages of simple structure, convenient operation and maintenance, small pressure loss, large filtration capacity, long service life and less investment (only about 30 yuan). It is a good auxiliary equipment to ensure the normal operation of liquid transportation in the factory.
