Polypropylene is a polymer formed by addition polymerization of propylene. It is a white waxy material with transparent and light appearance. The chemical formula is (C3H6) n, the density is 0.89 ~ 0.91g/cm3, [1] flammable, the melting point is 189 ℃, softens at about 155 ℃, and the service temperature range is – 30 ~ 140 ℃ [2]. It can resist the corrosion of acid, alkali, salt solution and a variety of organic solvents below 80 ℃, and can decompose under high temperature and oxidation. Polypropylene is widely used in the production of fiber products such as clothing and blankets, medical devices, automobiles, bicycles, parts, transmission pipelines, chemical containers, as well as food and drug packaging.
Propylene monomer is polymerized in liquid phase in kettle reactor, and ethylene propylene is copolymerized in gas phase in fluidized bed reactor.
The core equipment of the process is gas-phase fluidized bed reactor, circulating gas compressor, circulating gas cooler and extrusion granulation unit.
